Several businesses and nonprofits have opened or will open new medical-related facilities in southcentral Pennsylvania. One Cumberland County college has launched three new health-related programs. And the Select Medical Institute of Physical Therapy and Movement at Harrisburg University is being created.

The list below includes new clinics, two new hospitals, and a counseling practice in 13 municipalities and five counties.

Here’s our latest rundown of medical-related projects, openings, moves and renovations.

Cumberland County

Camp Hill

Connections Relational Therapy

Tara Dively, a licensed marriage and family therapist, will open an office at 355 N. 21st St. The practice provides therapy for individuals, couples, and families. In addition to traditional counseling sessions, the practice will also offer workshops, support groups, and educational resources.

East Pennsboro Township

Central Penn College

Central Penn College has launched a new program that will allow students to earn an associate degree in a high-demand healthcare field at Central Penn College, begin a career, and then continue their education online toward a Bachelor of Science in Healthcare Management – all while working full-time. The new 2+2 bridge program will begin in the fall.

The college has also launched a new nine-month Behavioral Health Certificate. This fully online program allows students to complete 18 credits in nine months. The program includes courses in psychology, developmental psychology, medical psychology, abnormal psychology, public health psychology, and sports psychology. Classes are slated to begin in the fall.

The college has also announced that the Pennsylvania State Board of Dentistry has approved its Expanded Function Dental Assistant program. Classes are expected to start in the school’s upcoming summer and fall semesters. Central Penn has offered its dental assistant certificate program since 2023. The school encourages dental assistants who want to broaden their skills and enhance their earning potential to enroll in the new Expanded Function Dental Assistant program.

Hampden Township

OSS Health

An orthopedic group has opened an office at 1926 Good Hope Road. Patients at the location have access to orthopedic services, orthopedic urgent care, imaging services, and joint replacement and pain management services.

South Middleton Township

WellSpan Carlisle Hospital

WellSpan Health officials broke ground on the future WellSpan Carlisle Hospital and medical campus — a 20,000-square-foot neighborhood hospital with an emergency room and 10 inpatient beds, as well as some basic diagnostic services and a 35,000-square-foot ambulatory center and a medical office building at 1201 Walnut Bottom Road.

Dauphin County

Derry Township

LHM Physical Therapy Institute

The clinic opened at 753 Middletown Road. LHM Physical Therapy Institute offers orthopedic, pediatric, geriatric, neurological sports, work injury and pre- and post-operative rehabilitation, as well as occupational therapy.

Pediatric Intermediate Care Unit expansion at Penn State Health Children’s Hospital

Penn State Health Children’s Hospital has increased its capacity to provide for critically ill and injured children. The health system added 14 private beds to the Pediatric Intermediate Care Unit.

Harrisburg

Labre Clinic

The Catholic Charities in the Diocese of Harrisburg has opened a new walk-in mental health clinic. The 2,000-square-foot Labre Clinic has opened at 2600 N. Third St. The Labre Clinic is a new initiative for Catholic Charities in the Diocese of Harrisburg. This clinic will offer walk-in mental health services to anyone in need, but especially the homeless.

The Select Medical Institute of Physical Therapy and Movement at Harrisburg University

Select Medical has announced it has gifted $5 million over a five-year term to Harrisburg University to partner and create The Select Medical Institute of Physical Therapy and Movement at Harrisburg University. The donation will support Harrisburg University’s existing undergraduate exercise science program and the development of the Doctor of Physical Therapy program.

Lower Paxton Township

Capitol Rehabilitation & Healthcare Center

The center at 4000 Linglestown Road has introduced two new, in-facility specialty healthcare offerings, partnering with top area providers. The skilled nursing facility now offers cardiac care under the direction of cardiologist Dr. Rajesh Davé and chronic illness support services featuring palliative care through Hospice of Central PA. Capitol’s chronic illness support program integrates palliative care, pastoral support and other services with the center’s clinical specialized programming. Based on a platform developed by Marquis, the initiative focuses on providing emotional and spiritual support to help relieve symptoms and stress for patients and loved ones and enhance quality of life. Christina Ring, a nurse practitioner with Hospice of Central PA’s Levos Palliative Care team, is leading the Capitol program for her organization.

Swatara Township

Soar Corp Recovery Center

Soar Corp Recovery Center wants to transform the Red Lion Hotel Harrisburg Hershey at 4751 Lindle Road into a treatment center that would include a 350-bed inpatient nonhospital substance abuse facility and an outpatient methadone maintenance program.

Lancaster County

Ephrata Township

WellSpan Endoscopy Center

The outpatient facility opened at 4150 Barrett Blvd. The center provides colorectal screenings and endoscopy procedures and specializes in diseases of the esophagus, stomach, and duodenum. The center is also the new location of the WellSpan Digestive Health physician practice, which was previously located on the campus of WellSpan Ephrata Community Hospital. The center includes a waiting area, private patient areas, and procedure rooms equipped with endoscopic equipment.

Ephrata Township/Lancaster

The ENT Center

The ENT Center in Lancaster County has joined WellSpan Health. The ENT Center provides ear, nose, and throat care, and hearing services at two locations in the county. The location at 810 Plaza Blvd. is now known as WellSpan ENT and Hearing Center at Lancaster. The facility at 561 W. Trout Run Road in Ephrata Township is now known as WellSpan ENT and Hearing Center at Ephrata. The facilities have been open for more than 50 years.

Lebanon County

North Cornwall Township

WellSpan WellFlight

WellSpan, which provides air medical transport services, moved to Lebanon’s public safety facility on Cornwall Road. Wellspan WellFlight will continue to serve residents in central Pennsylvania. WellFlight operates around the clock, every day of the year transporting every patient who needs critical air medical services, regardless of their ability to pay. WellFlight serves communities in central Pennsylvania and northern Maryland.

North Londonderry Township

LHM Physical Therapy Institute

The new clinic opened at 12 N. Londonderry Square. The company offers orthopedic, pediatric, geriatric, neurological sports, work injury and pre- and post-operative rehabilitation, as well as occupational therapy.

York County

Hopewell Township

WellSpan Health

WellSpan Health broke ground on WellSpan Shrewsbury Hospital. The hospital will be located at 13515 Wolfe Road and is expected to open in late 2025. Wellspan said that the acute-care facility is designed to bring essential medical services closer to the residents of this part of York County and in nearby northern Maryland. The 18,000-square-foot hospital will include a 24/7 emergency department; 10 inpatient beds and diagnostic capabilities including ultrasound, CT, X-ray and laboratory services.
