Alaska Wildlife Trooper Colonel Bernard Chastain has retired from the Alaska Department of Public Safety after 25 years serving Alaskans.Chastain began as a Fish and Wildlife Protection Trooper in 1998 and was appointed Director of the Division of Alaska Wildlife Troopers in January 2023 where he led the division in accomplishing the mission of protecting Alaska’s natural resources through the enforcement of wildlife statutes and regulations. Colonel Chastain was committed to serving Alaskans through loyalty, compassion, integrity, and courage over his storied career with the department. We wish him well in retirement.

This comprehensive training equips our troopers to manage dynamic tactical problems effectively. The training was attended by troopers and police officers from across the state.
