Intriguing etymology
The name “Cîroc” is a portmanteau of the French words “cime”, which means peak, and “roche”, meaning rock. These words are a reference to the high-altitude vineyards of the Gaillac region where Mauzac grapes are grown.
A-List Promoters
A great many celebrities have promoted Ciroc. Former professional football player Earl Little Sr. first introduced Ciroc to the US market and began its popularity in Atlanta and Miami.
Rap artists such as DJ Khaled, French Montana, and most notably, P. Diddy have also promoted Ciroc.
The Legend of P. Diddy and Ciroc Vodka
Following its establishment in 2003, Ciroc struggled to make good annual sales, getting a mere 40,000 cases sold until December 2007.
In 2007, Sean “Puff Daddy” Combs became a brand ambassador for the vodka brand. Marking his role as an ambassador was a commercial for Cîroc where Combs called the drink the “official vodka of New Year’s”.
