Dorman Taylor,81, of Jasper passed away on Thursday, March 31, 2022 in Jasper. A Celebration of Life Service will be held on Saturday, April 16, 2022 at 11:00 a.m. at 9094 U.S. Highway 96 South in Jasper.

Dorman was born on June 18, 1940 in Beaumont, Texas to John & Dorothy Taylor Sr. He worked in the upholstery business and was a resident of Vidor until moving to Jasper two years ago. He is survived by his son Ronnie Taylor & wife Norma of Jasper; daughter Deborah Ann Applegate & husband David of Spurger; sisters Carolyn Taylor of Vidor, Brenda Taylor Brister & husband Roger of Vidor, and Johnnie Ilene Taylor of Vidor; as well as numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren. Mildred Conn, 95, of Wiergate passed away on Monday, March 14, 2022 at Timberidge Nursing and Rehabilitation. A native of Newton County, she was born on September 3, 1926 to Homer & Grace Hall. Mildred worked as a nurse for Mary Dickerson Hospital and was a life-long resident of Newton County and a member of Burkeville Baptist Church. George Brian Ogden, 62, of Woodville passed away on Sunday, March 13, 2022 in Woodville. Aubrey Lee Thompson, 78, of Buna passed away on March 3, 2022 in Beaumont, Texas. A native of Gist, Texas, Aubrey was born on July 26, 1943 to Victor Aubrey & Edith Starks Thompson. A retired truck driver, he was a life-long resident of Buna. Adelaide “Addie” was born on December 29, 1935 in Pittsburg, Pennsylvania. A resident of Copperas Cove and Beaumont, she moved to Jasper County in 2020. She worked as a secretary for the Diocese of Beaumont and was a mom, grandmother and a great grandmother. She is survived by her daughters Linda Boyd & husband Clint of Kirbyville and Joyce Barry & husband Steve of Battle Creek, Michigan; grandchildren Joshua, Kolby, Krystal, Stephanie, Christina, and Jon; as well as great grandson Conor. Janyth Wade, 76, of Jasper gained her wings and went to walk amongst the angels on February 4, 2022. A Celebration of Life Service will be held on Saturday, February 26, 2022 at 11:00 a.m. at Lake Rayburn United Methodist Church.

A lifelong volunteer, Janyth, Jan to all her friends, enjoyed being involved with women’s philanthropic and charitable organizations both in Houston and the Lake Sam Rayburn Community. She enjoyed an early career as a flight attendant for Texas International and later as a realtor in south Florida. However, her favorite titles over the years were mom, stepmom, Nunu, and loving wife.

All who knew Jan know that she never met a stranger and truly enjoyed everyday chats with family and friends. Her spirited nature and ability to fight through all that life threw at her is a lesson in strength and tenacity.

Paul Phelps “Superman”, 54, of Jasper passed away on Friday, February 18, 2022 in Silsbee Texas. Over the years in Jasper, she worked for Dr. Quick as a dental assistant and as a sales representative for Morgan & Lindsey. Billie Marie Anderson, 90, of Kountze, Texas passed away on Monday, February 7, 2022 in Longview, Texas. Billie will be fondly remembered by the many lives she touched and the love that she unselfishly gave. Yet, the acts of kindness and tenderness that we are aware of are a small sample of the charitable acts she performed. As a mother, grandmother, and nurse, Billie lived Matthew 6:1, believing good should be done "in secret." For every hot meal, hug, or gift, we received, she offered countless more to family, friends, patients, and strangers. She made it her mission to know the small, personal things that would have a huge impact. To many, Billie was the embodiment of love - always giving, never demanding. Her compassionate nature was matched by her strength. When life was most difficult, she was at her best, providing comfort and support for her loved ones even when she was suffering herself. And when her health declined, her spirit never did. She never stopped being the rock that the family relied on. We thank God that we had the good fortune to have loved her and to have been loved by this amazing woman.

Max Griffin, 60, passed away on Friday, February 4, 2022 in Shenandoah, Texas. A Celebration of Life Service will be held on Wednesday, February 9, 2022 at 4:00 p.m. at Shultz Funeral Home. The family will greet friends from 3:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. at the funeral home. A native of Woodville, Texas Max was born on December 16, 1961 to Carl “Bud” Talamadge & Sally Maxine Reid Griffin. Max was a member of the Jasper High School Graduating Class of 1980. He attended The University of Texas at Austin and studied radio, television, and film. He received his first pilot’s license when he was 15 years of age. He attended the Oklahoma Aviation School and was a pilot for American Airlines for 20 plus years as a First Officer. He was also a pilot for Seaport Airlines for 2 years, where he was the President of Operations, Asia Pacific Airlines in Honolulu, Hawaii, where he was Captain and he also flew for The Houston Rockets Basketball Team. Max is survived by his son Michael Colby Griffin; brother John Loden; sister Danna June Smith; granddaughter Ryleigh Evangelina Griffin; cousin Lin Griffin Cruse; his best friend of 54 years Kenneth Miller; fur babies Ana Mae & Ike; as well as extended family and friends. Laverne B. deBretagne, 92, of Jasper passed away on Thursday, February 3, 2022 in Jasper. Laverne lived in Silsbee for 56 years and the latter 5 years in Jasper. She was born to the late Adolphus “Grady” Bennett and Katie Ola Bennett on October 24, 1929. She passed away peacefully at home and surrounded by family. She attended Lonnie’s School of Hair Design and later became an instructor for the school teaching various techniques of hair design and styling too many hair stylist in the Beaumont and surrounding area. She owned and operated Laverne’s Lounge in Kountze, Texas for over 30 years. She is survived by “Scooter”, her precious daschund that she held close to her heart and considered her best friend; her five children Eddie McDaniel & wife Diane of Cocoa, Florida, daughter Debbie deBretagne Pipps of Silsbee, daughter Renee’ Schmidt of Silsbee, daughter Vickie Stewart & husband Sammy of Jasper, and son James “Jr.” deBretagne & wife Maetha of Silsbee; grandchildren Dawn White, L.J. Betty was born on January 11, 1934 in Beaumont, Texas to Leonard K. & Maude Wasson. She grew up in Beaumont and worked as an Office Manager for Claude Wilson State Farm Insurance. In her early retirement years, she traveled abroad and lived in Saudi Arabia with her husband for several years. She lived in Beaumont until 1989, when she and her husband moved to Jasper to fully enjoy retirement. She was an avid bridge player, a member of the Bluebonnet Garden Club, The Women’s Civic Club, the Seeker’s Sunday School Class, The United Methodist Women and an active member at First United Methodist Church in Jasper. She is survived by her daughter Lynne Rivera & husband Reggie of Sam Rayburn; son-in-law Robert Rhames of Jasper; grandchildren Stacy Shultz & husband David of Jasper, Mandy Seybold & husband John of Jasper, Grant Rivera & wife Katherine of Mandeville, Louisiana, and Kelly Williams & husband Scott of Beaumont; as well as great grandchildren Haley Shultz, Maggy Seybold, Blake Shultz, Miley Seybold & Charlotte Rivera. Henry Porter Kirchner III, 77, of Jasper passed away on January 20, 2022. Henry was born on July 30, 1944 in Big Springs, Texas. A veteran of the U.S. Navy, he worked in the construction industry. Vivian Wylie Cogbill, 95, died Friday, January 28, 2022 at her home in the Beech Grove Community. A Celebration of Life Service will be held on Wednesday, February 2, 2022 at 3:00 p.m. at Shultz Funeral Home. The family will greet friends on Wednesday from 2:00 p.m. until 3:00 p.m.

Born in Chester, Texas and delivered by mid-wives by the light of a kerosene lamp she lived to see her great-grandchildren using cell phone and laptop computers. She graduated from Chester High School in May of 1944 and first married in 1945. In 1961 she started working in Jasper at the old Hardy Hanco*ck Hospital and then at the Mary Dickerson Hospital from the day that it opened until 1982. In 1975, she married William Cogbill and moved to the Beech Grove Community. She is survived by her daughter, Jean Thornton; son, Walter Wigley & wife Cathy; and stepson, Clinton Smith; a sister Gladys Toney; and a number of grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Robert “Bob” Eugene Traynor, 90, of Jasper, Texas passed away peacefully on January 22, 2022 at Dogwood Trails Manor in Woodville, Texas. A Celebration of Life Service will be held on Saturday, January 29, 2022 at 4:00 p.m. at Shultz Funeral Home in Jasper. The family will greet friends from 3:00 p.m. until 4:00 p.m.

He was born December 18, 1931 in Kay County, Oklahoma, three miles north of Peckham, Oklahoma, to the late Henry F. Traynor and Alice Marie (Trenary) Traynor. Bob received his high school diploma from Codell, Kansas in 1949. He attended college for several years before joining the United States Air Force where he served for four years. He was honorably discharged in 1959. In his early years, Bob worked as an oilfield pumper. However, it was farming that was Bob’s true passion, and he spent over forty years doing exactly that. Bob was a former member of the VFW of Plainville, Kansas. He was an active member of the Sacred Heart Catholic Church when he resided in Rooks County, Kansas. Bob relocated to Jasper, Texas in 2015 to live with his brother, Ed.

Bob is survived by his brother, Edward L. Traynor; one nephew, Douglas Traynor and wife Shirley of League City, Texas: three nieces, Jan Dill and husband John of St. Peters, Missouri; Susan Craft and husband Charlie of Merryville, Louisiana; Kay Locke of Edmond, Oklahoma; 13 great-nieces and nephews; 15 great great-nieces and nephews, and numerous additional family members and friends. Preceding Bob in death are his parents, Henry F. and Alice Marie Traynor. Bob was a hardworking and humble man. He cherished his family and friends. Arthur “Art” Lay, 85, of Jasper passed away on Thursday, January 13, 2022 at Rayburn Health and Rehabilitation in Jasper. Art was born on January 8, 1937 in Homer, Louisiana. He served in the United States Air Force and was retired from the Deep East Texas Council of Governments. He coached and umpired little league for many years. He was widely known for his work in radio and television. After working for KFDM TV and KLVI Radio in Beaumont, Art came to Jasper in 1974 and worked at KTXJ and in later years Rayburn Broadcasting Co. and its station KJAS. He was affectionately known as “The Voice of the Jasper Bulldogs” and announced Bulldog games for over 40 years. Art was last heard on KJAS on September 4, 2020 when he was a guest on the “Coffee With the Coach” program.

Wanda Jean Foster Bazemore, 71, of Jasper passed away suddenly on Wednesday, January 12, 2022 at CHI St. Luke’s Hospital in Lufkin, Texas from a massive stroke and heart attack. Wanda Jean Bazemore was born to Billy Don and Greta Foster in Dallas, Texas on November 1, 1950 and was the first of four children. Wanda loved life and loved to travel with friends and family. She had a lifelong love of cats and had many throughout her life. One of her passions was fostering kittens for the Humane Society in Jasper. Family was so important to her and she liked planning get togethers with lots of her good cooking! She was a devoted, life long member of the Church of Christ in Jasper, Texas. She was very active in her church, and it was her greatest honor to serve the lord where where she could do so. She was part of the woman’s group who served meals for families, and other occasions as she loved to cook.

Wanda is survived by 3 brothers, Brad Foster and wife Debby of Tyler, Texas, Steve Foster and wife Laura of Lake Charles, LA, and Russell Foster of Jasper, Texas. Lucy Rhames, 90, a resident of Smithville was born July 23, 1931 in New Iberia, Louisiana and passed away on January 5, 2022 in Georgetown, Texas. Linda Mattox May, 83, of Jasper passed away on Monday, November 29, 2021 at St. Elizabeth Hospital in Beaumont, Texas.

Linda was born on September 1, 1938 to James Carlie Mattox and Carrie Willis Mattox of Brookeland, Texas. She was a 1956 graduate of Brookeland High School and lettered in basketball all four years. After high school, she met the love of her life, G.P. “Perk” May and they married on September 7, 1961. They made their home in Louisiana for the next 27 years before moving back home to East Texas.

Linda enjoyed fishing, squirrel hunting, gospel music, and spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren.

Linda was a member of the Jasper Church of Christ. One of her favorite verses in the Bible was 1 Corinthians 13:13 And now abide faith, hope, love, these three; But the greatest of these is Love. And her favorite motto to live by was “When you choose to see the good in others, you end up finding the good in yourself.”

Linda was preceded in death by her parents, Carlie and Carrie Willis Mattox; her husband of 52 years, Perk May; brother Bryan Mattox; two sisters Hazel Jolly and Mary Mattox.

She is survived by her son Gerald Keith May and wife Kim May of Mocksville, North Carolina; a daughter Lisa Batson and husband Kris Batson of Jasper, Texas; brother Jim Mattox and wife Linda Gail Mattox of Jasper, Texas; grandchildren Lindsey Batson and Dustin Batson both of Beaumont, Texas; as well as many nieces and nephews.

Karen was born on October 6, 1959 in Waco, TX to Terrance Buck McLeod and Elizabeth Frost McLeod. Karen was raised in Temple, TX. Even from a young age, she was exceptional at everything she put her mind to. She especially loved her family, sports, and music. Karen graduated in 1977 from Temple High School where she excelled in tennis and orchestra. She went on to attend Oral Roberts University and graduated in 1981.Upon graduation from Oral Roberts, Karen moved to Washington D.C. where she worked for several years as a consultant and speech writer. She stayed in D.C. for almost 10 years and was able to foster a successful career working on various projects and advancing her conservative ideals. During this time, while home for Christmas, Karen met her beloved husband, David. They were married in March of 1992 at the First United Methodist Church of Jasper. Her children were her heart and soul. She adored them and cherished every moment with them. Karen delighted in their accomplishments and their love of the Lord. She always mentioned how tremendous of a legacy they were of David and her. Years later, she took on the role of “Gamma” when her grandchildren were born. This was a name she so lovingly endeared and she wore it well. Her grandchildren lit up her world, and they treasured their time with her.

Jerry Leon Trotti, 79, of Jasper passed away on Friday, October 1, 2021. A Celebration of Life Service will be held on Saturday, October 9, 2021 at 11:30 a.m. at Beech Grove Baptist Church. The family will greet friends from 10:30 a.m. until 11:30 a.m.

Jerry Leon Trotti was born in a little house off of 1747 in Beech Grove to Hazel & Buck Trotti on December 30, 1941. Jerry grew up and at the age of 18 enlisted in the United States Army. He was soon promoted to Sergeant Trotti. While home on leave, he met his sweetheart Lola on July 17, 1960 and they were married one month later on August 20, 1960. He served three years active duty in Bamberg, Germany and two years inactive. After the Army, Jerry and Lola settled in Thibodaux, Louisiana, and had two girls, Tammy and Angie. They eventually made their way back to Texas, where he raised his family. Jerry worked in the oilfield all of his life and retired from Arco Oil and Gas as a Drilling Consultant in 1995. He also drilled water wells, had Trotti’s Tree Service, and Jerry’s Stump Grinding. He was always working or helping someone do something! He loved The Lord, his family and friends, his Church Family and especially deer hunting. He will be missed dearly and we will cherish all the great memories we have with him. Kristi Henessee, age 60, of Wilburn, Arkansas, passed away September 10, 2021. Born on October 31, 1960, in Port Arthur, Texas, she was the daughter of the late James Cecil Guidry and Minnie Alford Guidry Ener.

Kristi was a loving daughter, sister, wife, and aunt. She enjoyed spending time with her family and friends.

Francis VinetteMcDuffie, 100 years and 8 months old, of Jasper passed away August 24, 2021. Vinette moved to Jasper County from Spurger, Texas when she was five years old. Her family settled in the Little Hope community. Vinette was born on December 17, 1920 to Benton and Owen Hicks Jordan and was one of six children. She was the first in her family to finish high school, graduating from Jasper High in 1939. She went to work until she married Louie W. McDuffie on November 1, 1941.

The first time Vinette left East Texas was when she followed Louie to San Francisco where he was stationed as a Sergeant in the U.S. Army/Air Force. After Louie was discharged, they moved to Kirbyville where he worked for the City. Louie and Vinette moved back to Jasper in 1951 when he went to work for the City of Jasper. Vinette began working at Due’s Minimax in 1957 and continued working there until her retirement.

Survivors include her children Terry McDuffie and wife, Janie of Irving, Texas, Wanda Hall of Rowlett, Texas, and Sandra Warrick and husband, Charles of Lufkin, Texas; grandchildren Scott McDuffie and wife Tammie; Garrick McDuffie, Janna McDuffie, Lindsey Hall Thomas and husband Joshua, and Whitney Warrick; great grandchildren Dylan, Eleina, Lane, David, William, Anna and Sadie; and beloved sister Jeanne Williams of Jasper, Texas. Jim Dickerson of Jasper, Texas is her son adopted by love and Heidi Laswell, her granddaughter, also adopted by love.

Vinette is preceded in death by her husband, Louie and daughter, Charlotte and son-in-law David Hall.

Besides Port Arthur, she resided in Beaumont, Lumberton, and the Fairview Community since 1987, prior to moving to The Woodlands.

Sarah was a woman who loved deeply and never let go of her faith in Jesus Christ. Through her entire struggle with cancer, she never stopped fighting. She held firmly to the belief that she was to count it pure joy as she encountered her trials and knew that God had an ultimate plan for her life (James 1:2-4). On July 10, 2021, she gained the victory over sickness and death, and was welcomed home by her Lord and Savior!

On August 5, 2006, Sarah married the love of her life, Chris, and they built a beautiful life together with their three girls, Hannah, Sophia, and Amanda. Her daughters loved to bake with her, and she was always crafting and creating in her spare time. She is remembered for her infectious laughter, heart-warming hugs, and a sparkle that surrounded her wherever she went. Despite all the trials and pain, her smile was never diminished.

She is now waiting in heaven to be reunited with her husband Chris Fontenot, her three daughters, Hannah Kincannon, Sophia and Amanda Fontenot; her parents Charles and Pat Stovall; her sisters and their husbands Jessica and Gabe Hilliard, Rachel and Shannon Solly; many nieces and nephews; her Popa, Ed Chapman; and Grandma, Roberta Stovall.

James Robert Whitehead, 69, went home to glory Friday morning, June 11, 2021, after a lengthy illness. He was the son of the late Master Chief Willie Robert Whitehead (USN) Ret. and Ethel (Stotler) Whitehead and step-son of the late Mary O. Whitehead.
Mr. Whitehead, a graduate of North Kingstown High School, took lessons in dance, piano, trumpet and drums in his youth as well as belonging to Cub Scouts, Boy Scouts and little league. As children Mr. Whitehead, along with his sister, enjoyed countless hours riding their go-cart, ponies and taking care of their dogs and cats. They had a good childhood and remained close into adulthood. After high school Mr. Whitehead entered the U. S. Army and served faithfully being honorably discharged. During his tenure, in the military, he was awarded numerous medals and achieved the rank of Staff Sargent. Mr. Whitehead served 4 tours of duty overseas: 2 in Seoul, South Korea, 1 in Stuttgart, Germany, and 1 in Baden-Baden, Germany. After his honorable discharge, from the military, Mr. Whitehead worked at Wal-Mart for many years before his health forced him into early retirement. While Mr. Whitehead was born and raised in North Kingstown, Rhode Island, he lived in Jasper, Texas for well over 20 years following his honorable discharge from the Army.
Mr. Whitehead is predeceased by his parents, Master Chief Willie Robert Whitehead (USN) Ret., Ethel (Stotler) Whitehead, step-mother Mary O. Whitehead, and brother-in-law Mr. Aram Raky. He is survived by his devoted sister Dr. Elizabeth A. (Whitehead) Raky, of North Kingstown, RI, several cousins, and his former care taker Priscilla Bailey, all living in the great state of Texas. He will be sorely missed by all.
I wish to publicly and personally thank the nursing staff, and all, at Shady Acres Nursing Home in Newton, TX for taking such good care of my brother and loving him during the last several months of his earthly journey. Thank you for allowing him to call me whenever he wanted or needed so we could talk and for taking my numerous calls several times weekly to check on his condition, progress, prognosis and so I could make decisions, about his care, as the situation necessitated. Also, many thanks for your willingness to pray with him especially during times when his health seemed to be deteriorating. Ruby Dell Yarbrough Payne, 94, of Sam Rayburn passed away on Tuesday, June 29, 2021 in Jasper. Ruby was born on July 18, 1926 in El Dorado, Arkansas to Nathan & Ida Yarbrough Sr. Ruby moved to Rayburn in 1984, she was a member of Lake Rayburn United Methodist Church, where she served many committees, chaired the Stained-Glass Window Committee, and was the official “Greeter”. She loved the game of golf; she even met her husband of 48 years on a golf course. She holds the Rayburn Country Lady’s lowest coarse record of 68. She also loved counted-cross stitch in her pass time. Her face may also be remembered from the Klothes Kloset, where she worked for 15 years. She is survived by her “girls” Alice Dawson, Liz Weaver, and Darlene Collins; Bob’s daughter Marguerite Robichaux & beloved Walter Hurley of Stratton, Maine; as well as a host of friends and church family. She is preceded in death by her husband Robert “Bob” G. Forest was born on June 2, 1941, in Jasper to Farest P. & Lois Smith Read. A long-time Jasper resident, he was a 1959 graduate of Sam Houston High School and he proudly served his country in the United States Air Force. Forest was a Master Electrician and was in the electrical business for 48 years. He was the owner and operator of Read’s Electrical Service in Jasper. Forest was a member of the Dewitt Clinton Masonic Lodge #29 and was a member of Hillcrest Baptist Church of Jasper, until his move to Orange. He loved the outdoors, whether it be fishing or hunting. He enjoyed traveling and working with his hands. He could build, repair, or create just about anything you could imagine. He is survived by his wife Frances Read of Orange, whom he married on February 4, 1961, son Gerald Read of Italy; daughters Connie Matthews of Carrollton; Dyana Ramirez of Jasper; a brother Ross H. Smith of Bridge City; grandsons Jeramey Matthews, Ryan Matthews & Forest Knesse; and granddaughters Neve Read and Anissa Read. He is preceded in death by his parents Farest P. Read & Lois B. Joseph Daniel (Danny) King was greeted in heaven by his Lord and Savior on Thursday, July 1, 2021, when he entered heaven and left this earth after a long and courageous struggle with cancer. While his earthly friends and family will miss the sound of his laughter, we are all certain that he is singing, laughing, telling stories, and probably talking about the last Houston Astro’s game!

Danny was born on November 20, 1953, in Newton, Texas to the late Floyd (Husky) and Billie Jolly King. He is survived by his beautiful wife, Connie Smith King, a sister, Robin King Tucker & husband Ronald, children Crystal King, Josh Burke & wife Haylee, and Tyler Burke, sister-in-law Sally King, and an uncle, Donald Jolly. He loved his grandchildren, Tyler, Trinity, Maddie, and Mykah, and his dog, “Tuvee”, who stayed by his side. Danny also had many nieces and nephews who celebrate his life. Danny lost his precious son Jason Daniel King in 2017. He is also preceded in death by his mom and dad, and brothers, Charles Wayne King and Thomas Michael King, as well as a grandson Dakota.

Danny graduated from Stark High School in 1972, and continues to have loyal friends from his graduating class who mourn his loss. He attended Lamar University and worked for the United States Postal Service, then began work at Gulf Oil, a career which lasted 36 years. He retired in 2015, and has lived in Jasper, Texas, since then. He and Connie have traveled and lived life to the fullest in the time they’ve had together. Danny and Connie attended Hillcrest Baptist Church where Danny sang in the choir. He loved gospel quartet music (and really all kinds of music), loved to hunt and fish, and loved his Astros (which he could be heard LOUDLY supporting when a game was on, especially if Jose Altuve was up to bat!).

The family has been encouraged and ministered to by their Sunday School class and friends at Hillcrest and by their loving neighbors, who have showered them with love and care throughout Danny’s illness, and for this they are eternally grateful.

Vurnis Neil Coleman, 84 of Kirbyville, Texas was born on March 14, 1937 in San Augustine to Tomey and Ethel Vestal Coleman. He passed away peacefully in his sleep into the Presence of The Lord Jesus Christ on June 16, 2021 at Avalon Place nursing home in Kirbyville, after many struggles with various and challenging illnesses.

He never forgot his faith in The Lord Jesus Christ to deliver him, and overcome, according to the Perfect Will of The Lord Jesus Christ that he loved with all of his heart. He was a welder and die tooling maintenance foreman at Eastham Forge in Beaumont, Texas for 30 plus years. He was an industrious and detail oriented man. He had to do every job perfectly, and he was that way in every facet of his life. He was always low key and respectful to all. He was looked up to by his grandkids when playing his guitar, singing in his sweet southern charm and humorous light laughter. He had a passion for his classic Turquoise 1965 Galaxie 500 with homemade exhaust that sounded so, so good. He wore his cowboy hat and shined like a true Texan with pride in his garden, flowers and his care for home and family. He made wonderful gifts with wood, and was quite the talented craftsman, making rocking horses, rocking chairs, a big toy box, baseball bat holder, and the famous Charlie the Tuna cartoon, and many other sweet loving gifts including all sorts of beautiful home crafts. Papaw gave with a huge heart when he hugged, and smile laughed with his Santa Claus eyes and white beard.

John Ray Lewis, 73 of Jasper passed away on Friday, May 28, 2021. A Celebration of Life Service will be held on Saturday, June 5, 2021 at First Baptist Church in Jasper with Bro. Mr. John Ray Lewis will forever be remembered as a beloved husband, father, uncle, friend, and neighbor. Growing up in the fertile fields and waterways of southern Arkansas, he spent his youth learning the meaning of hard work, sacrifice, true friendship, and loyalty. Life was filled with family, friends who became family, hunting, and fishing to help provide and learning a work ethic that would define who Mr. Lewis would be in both his professional and private life. His love of the U.S.A. and the outdoors never left as he became a soldier, career forester, skilled woodsman, avid marksman, hunter, and fisherman, who traveled much of North America in pursuit of wild game.

On February 10, 1968, he married the love of his life, Janice Marie, and they shared 53 years laughing, working tirelessly, parenting, hunting, and fishing. Shortly after they were married, John Ray, a true patriot began his distinguished service in the United States Army, serving in the 75thInfantry. Upon returning home, by the grace of God, he continued a career in the forestry industry that would span more than 50 years. He and Janice welcomed a daughter on February 22, 1971, and a more loving father will never be found. He worked for large timber companies, which eventually took their family to Jasper in the Piney Woods of East Texas. After a few more years working for L&M and Louisiana Pacific, he decided to begin his own forestry management company, JR’s Forest Service. Many of his professional contacts became lifelong friends. Outdoor adventures never ceased as he shared truly countless adventures with his treasured wife, family, and brothers by friendship. His relationship with God was always a private matter to John Ray. Having accepted Christ earlier in life, he chose to be baptized here at First Baptist Church of Jasper, just two short years ago in obedience to Christ. John Ray is survived by his treasured wife of 53 years, Janice Marie Lewis; daughter Donna Michelle McCann; Grandchildren James Devin McCann and Andrew Lewis McCann; siblings Vera Marie Pazimo and Susan Kay Johnson; nieces and nephews Brennan Luke, Jennifer Leigh, Kaylin Shae, Morganne Alysse, and Zachary Colton Tomlinson, Ledy Kathlene and Reginald Scott Messina, Stacy Messina and Tara Nicole Howell. He is preceded in death by his mother Cora Catherine Van, father Henry Alexander Lewis, Jr. and sister Marion Lewis. John Ray was a man filled with the love of life, Janice, Donna and all of his friends and family. He will be dearly missed until we see him again in Heaven. Lois Terrell Williford, 72, of Jasper, Texas passed away on Tuesday, May 11, 2021, at Harbor Hospice in Jasper, Texas. Lois was a longtime resident of Mauriceville, Texas, and had lived in Jasper for the last 23 years. She spent her life as a homemaker being a loving wife, mother, and grandmother. Lois was an avid reader who greatly enjoyed traveling. She was well known in her community for being a baker who was best known for her delicious fudge. Lois was a faithful member of the Kirbyville Apostolic Church.

Lois is survived by her husband of 55 years, Rayburn; son Troy Williford and wife Missy of Saratoga; daughter Kimberley Williford Gill and husband Brian of Jasper; daughter-in-law Tracey Gilcrease Williford; sister, Johnnie Terrell Jacks of Orange, Texas; brother, Ray Terrell and wife Linda of Orangefield, Texas; as well as numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

Laurene Lindley Cowart was born in Fostoria, Texas to Sam Semion Lindley and Laura Hyatt Lindley on April 5, 1931. She graduated from Jasper High School and attended college at Stephen F. Austin University in Nacogdoches, TX. She married George Cowart on January 17, 1953, in Jasper, TX. Laurene worked as a supervisor for Wal-Mart in Jasper for 23 years. She was a loving mother, grandmother and great grandmother who loved sewing, quilting and crocheting. Laurene was an excellent seamstress and made both daughters’ beautiful wedding dresses. Her dinner table was always set with delicious food and welcoming to family and visitors alike. Laurene was a long time member of the First Baptist Church of Jasper. She also was a member of the Jasper Order of the Eastern Star, Chapter 291. Laurene’s Lindley ancestors moved to Texas from Illinois in 1832 with one of the sons, Jonathan Lindley, perishing in the battle of the Alamo in the fight for Texas independence.

Laurene is preceded in death by her parents, Sam and Laura Lindley, her husband George Cowart, son Ralph Lindley Cowart, and her two siblings, brother Sam Lindley and sister Geneva Lindley McMahon.

Pat was born on March 20, 1950, in Bonne Terre, Missouri to Willard & Patsy Militzer. A United States Army Veteran, he was a resident of Groves prior to moving to Jasper eight years ago. Carl Sil Vester Busby was born in Call Junction, Texas, on August 4, 1926 to Malissa Elnora Moore Busby and Samuel Walker Busby. He was the fifth of fifteen children. He is preceded in death by his beloved wife Alice Marie Simpson Busby and by his faithful dog Scratch.

Carl is survived by his daughters Doris Judd & husband Harold and Donna Dearing & husband Curtis; brothers Dennis Busby and wife Hester and Harold Busby & wife Virginia; sisters Mary Lea Davidson, Lois West, Pauline Perritte, Imogene Ernst and Sue Hinch & husband Phillip. He was blessed with eight grandchildren, eighteen great grandchildren and two great-great grandchildren.

Carl was a kind man giving freely of his talents, his wisdom and his love. His home was always open, he enjoyed visiting with friends and family over coffee. He and Alice were avid fisherman leaving us many fun-filled memories of life on Sam Rayburn. He was a lifetime member of Madison Masonic Lodge in Orange, Texas, a member of the Bridge City Masonic Lodge and Brookeland Masonic Lodge. Mr. Busby taught masonic work for over 50 years, many men fondly remember studying with him under his big oak tree.

Carl and Alice spent many happy times being ham radio operators, making world-wide friends. Carl loved and enjoyed children and dogs. He rebuilt bikes with the Orange Police Department for Children at Christmas. He also provided a nice piece of concrete for kids to skate and ride bikes.

Thomas E. Chambliss, age 71, passed away on Sunday, February 21, 2021, at home surrounded by the love of his wife, children, and grandchildren. Born May 10, 1949, to Steven E. and Rosalee Allen Chambliss, Tommy grew up in Beech Grove where he spent much time outdoors hunting and fishing. After graduating from Jasper High School in 1967, he spent four years as an aircraft electrician in the Navy during the Vietnam War. He returned to Jasper after his military service where he met and married his wife of nearly 47 years, Mary Jo Howard.

Tommy retired from the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers in 2010 with 40 years of service. He then hooked up the travel trailer and enjoyed traveling around the United States with Jo, going to Astros baseball games, hanging out at the beach, and spending time at the lease in South Texas. An avid outdoorsman who enjoyed hunting and fishing with his sons and grandchildren, Tommy especially enjoyed introducing his grandchildren to archery and reveled when they excelled.

When Papa was not traveling, hunting, or fishing, he spent time cheering on his grandchildren in their athletic pursuits and attended numerous games and meets across the state of Texas. His favorite game of all to watch was the one that inevitably occurred at each family gathering: the never ending backyard baseball game that always concluded with lots of laughter.

Tommy was preceded in death by his parents, his Uncle Popeye Chambliss, and his grandson Drake Thomas Floyd.

Tamara "Tammy" Louise Hill, age 62, passed away Wednesday, January 6, 2021 in Holly Springs, Texas. She was born to Virgil Nolan Hill, Sr. and Nancy Louise Hill (Pace) on August 15, 1958 in Dallas, Texas.

Tammy enjoyed life and family. She enjoyed being an aunt to many nieces and nephews. Although Tammy had her struggles, she brought significant value to many people's lives.

Judy Pence of Jasper, Texas passed away on January 6, 2021 at the age of 79. She was born on August 25, 1941 to Johnnie Cornelius and Audrey Jessie (Gammons) Vaughn in McKinney, Texas. Judy married Buford B. Pence on September 3, 1979 in McKinney, Texas. She was a member of Peachtree Baptist in Jasper, Texas and a past member of Fairview Baptist in Fairview, Texas.

She is survived by her son, Johnnie H. Holmes of Fort Worth, Texas; grandchildren, Justin Holmes and Elizabeth Holmes both of Fort Worth, Texas; sister, Janey Moorhead and husband, Kenneth of Jasper, Texas; brother-in-law, Ronnie Fisher and wife, Carla of McKinney, Texas; and numerous other loving family and friends.

Vernon was a loving husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather. He was a devoted husband to his wife, Elaine, until her passing in October 2018. Rev. Vernon was born in Jasper, TX on November 6, 1934 to the union of Albert and Edith Martindale. He graduated from Jasper High School in 1954; he then went on to marry the love of his life, Bernice Elaine LaFleur of Elton. Afterwards, he went to further his education at University of Corpus Christi for four years earning a Bachelor degree in Science. After that, he went to the Baptist Theological Seminary in New Orleans and studied religious education for three years earning a master’s degree in religious education. During his education he pastored many churches that were in need of help. After college, Vernon began to preach at multiple churches when he was needed. Wherever he was needed, he would move his family there to preach the gospel. He served as a wonderful pastor for sixty-six years. Rev. Vernon enjoyed woodworking, making clocks and furniture and rebuilding cars. Most of all, he loved spending time with his family; especially his grandchildren. Vernon will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.

Those left to cherish Vernon’s memory include his son, Vernon “Marty” Martindale, Jr. of Valley Mills, TX; one brother, Dorman Albert Martindale of Crawfordville, FL; one granddaughter, Lea Martindale Wolf and husband, Jacob “Jake”, of Valley Mills, TX; and four great grandchildren, Reuben Albert Wolf, Cooper Quine Wolf, Amelia Dale Wolf and Jacob Dwaine Wolf, Jr of Valley Mills, TX.

Vernon is preceded in death by his parents, Albert and Edith Martindale; wife of sixty-four years, Bernice Elaine Martindale; and one sister, Evelyn Ethel Martindale.

Tammy Hill, 62, of Jasper passed away on Wednesday, January 6, 2021 in Jasper. A private Celebration of Life Service was held.

A native of Dallas, she was born on August 15, 1958 to Nolan & Nancy Hill. She is survived by her sister Candy & L.C. Dodson of Wylie, Texas.

Marian Thordsen, 64, of Newton passed away on Thursday, January 7, 2021 in The Woodlands. A private Celebration of Life Service was held on Sunday, January 10, 2021 at Ebenezer Baptist Church.

A native of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, Marian was born on September 7, 1956 to Carl & Ruth Redmon. A loving mother and grandmother she is survived by her son Chad Dominy & wife Michelle of Jasper and grandchildren Kylee, Faith, Destinee & Ashlynne. She is preceded in death by her parents Carl & Ruth Redmon and a son Scotty Dominy.

Kenneth "Little Red" Hayes, 86, of Jasper passed away on Thursday, December 31, 2020 in Jasper. Kenneth was born on November 4, 1934 in Garden Valley to Frank & Minnie Hayes. A brick mason by trade, he worked in the Jasper area since 1975. Known as "Little Red" to many for his fiddle skills, he was honored at the Texas County Music Hall of Fame in San Marcos. He started playing the fiddle when he was 15-years old and went to work with Hank Thompson. Throughout his time he also played with Jim Reeves, Ray Price, George Jones and Mel Tillis. When he was 13, he went to a fiddling contest in Athens and there he met a little long-haired 12 year old girl, who would become his wife in 1955. He is survived by his wife of 65 years, Nina Hayes of Jasper, son Barry Hayes & wife Donna of Jasper; daughter Janice Anderson Burks of Jasper; grandchildren Aprl Wheeler & husband Christopher, Brandon Anderson & wife Felicia, Cathy Moye & husband Dustin, Bradly Anderson & wife Autumn and Lori Fair Viscardis & husband Shelby; as well as 14 great grandchildren.

Marion Brooks, 82, of Livingston passed away on Thursday, December 31, 2020 at Harbor Hospice in Jasper. A native of Cleburne, Texas, he was a devoted Jehovah's Witness for 40 years. He was a veteran of the United States Navy and loved to fish, visit with neighbors and just being in the outdoors. He is survived by his daughters Christina Brooks of Marlin, Texas and Beronica Wyatt of Onalaska, Texas; sisters Arvena Christine Hughes of Cleburne, Texas and Era Marie Davis of Cleburne, Texas; as well as grandchildren Ares, Makayla, Gabriel, Johnathan, Nicolaus, Anthony and Haley.

David Dickerson, 43, of Alvin, Texas passed away on Saturday, December 26, 2020. A Celebration of Life Service will be held on Saturday, January 2, 2021 at 2:00 p.m. at Shultz Funeral Home Gazebo in Jasper.

A native of Jasper and long-time resident, David grew up in Jasper, graduated in 1996 from Colmesneil High School and moved to the Houston area in 2006. Charles E. "Chad" Westbrook III, 42, of Trout Creek passed away on Tuesday, December 22, 2020. A native of Orange, Texas, he was born on March 31, 1978 to Charles and Cheryl Westbrook Jr. and was a long time resident of Jasper until moving to Trout Creek. He was employed with Auto Zone in Jasper and was a sales associate. He is survived by his father & stepmother Charles Westbrook Jr. & Theresa "Terry Westbrook of Jasper; son Hunter Westbrook of Ponca City, Oklahoma; daughter Cheryl Westbrook of Ponca City, Oklahoma; brother Chris Westbrook of Seattle, Washington; a sister Crystal Engles & husband Steven of Haughton, Louisiana, and step-sisters Amy Moore of Fannett, Texas and Emily Fisk of Spring, Texas. He is preceded in death by his mother Cheryl Westbrook, grandmother Betty Sue Westbrook and grandmother Georgie Long.

Glenda Sue Due Dickerson, 74, of Jasper passed away on Saturday, December 19, 2020 at her home. A Celebration of Life Service will be held on Saturday, December 26, 2020 at 3:00 p.m. at First Baptist Church in Jasper with interment to follow at Magnolia Cemetery in Holly Springs. A native and life-long resident of Jasper, Glenda was a devoted wife, mother and Mammaw. She was born on February 15, 1946 to William Glenn & Ruby Marie Due in Jasper. She was a graduate of Jasper High School and worked alongside her parents and husband at the family owned Due's Minimax. She then went to work as a Floral Designer, alongside her daughter at Bobbie's Bokay Florists for nearly 20 years before retiring. Retirement allowed her to be a loving Mammaw to her grandchildren. On November 19, 1964 in Rockport, Texas, she married the love of her life of 56 years, Jim Dickerson. She is survived by her husband Jim Dickerson of Jasper; daughters Sandy Bumstead of Jasper and Rebel Hood & husband Patrick of Jasper; son Jamie Dickerson & wife Melaney of Jasper; and brother Raymond Due of Lufkin; grandchildren W.J. Rogers, Sterling Hood & wife Rachel, Lauren Hood & fiancé' Austin Brosin, Kayle Dickerson, Shelby "Buck" Dickerson & Chelsea Bumstead; as well as great grandson Owen Walter aka "Precious" Hood. She loved her grandchildren like no other, and was overjoyed when Owen was born, he was an added light to her life.

A loving wife, mother, and grandmother, she is survived by her husband Vernon "Vern" Wolff Jr.; son Kevin Wesley Wolff; grandchildren Kevia Lane and Haley Rose; half sisters Ellen Carlton & husband Keith, Donice Smith and husband Roland, Eloise Kencile & husband Melvin, Elaine Hubert & husband Chuck, Linda Berry & husband Kenneth and Odessa Glass & husband William; and brothers Marcus Evans and Jeremy Evans. Judy is preceded in death by her father J.B. Evans, mother Bobbie Jean Rash; two sisters Bobbie Ann Luman and Annie Jean Evans; and two brothers James Ray Evans and Jimmy Glen Evans.

Lonche was born on May 8, 1923 in Angustura San Luis Potosi, Mexico, to Feliciano Melendez & Damiana Navarro. A ranch had by trade, he is survived by his son Ambrocio Melendez of Monterrey, Mexico, Panfilo Melendez of Houston, Gustavo Melendez of Jasper; daughters Carmel Oviedo of Katy, Juana Melendez of Monterrey, Mexico, Belen Arriaga of Jasper, and Maria Luz Melendez of Monterrey, Mexico; brother Faustino Melendez of Mexico; sisters Guadalupe Melendez of Mexico and Marcos Melendez Monsivias of Longview; as well as 43 grandchildren, 88 great grandchildren and 9 great great grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his first wife Petra Alvarez and his second wife Jouita Tovar and a son Tereso Melendez.

Steaphen Hill, 69, of Jasper passed away on November 23, 2020. Steaphen was born on March 28, 1951, in Fremont, Nebraska to Steaphen & Lou Ann Hill. He served his country in the United States Army and had been a resident of Jasper since 2016 after moving from New Ulm, Texas. He is survived by his mother Lou Ann Vitamvas of Valley, Nebraska; partner Rick McGaugh of Jasper; brothers Tom Hill & wife Phyllis of Omaha, Nebraska, Chuck Hill & wife Dianne of North Platte, Nebraska, and Tracy Hill of Freemont, Nebraska; sisters Jackie Fisher & husband Ron of Freemont, Nebraska, Gail Hill of Freemont, Nebraska, and Terrie Emmons of Freemont, Nebraska. Avery Gary, 88, of Brookeland passed away on Thursday, November 26, 2020. A life-long resident of Brookeland, Avery was born on April 2, 1932, in San Augustine, Texas to Andrew Lee & Addie Miller Gary. A truck driver his entire career, he spent the last 20 plus years working for B & W Trucking until he retired. He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Betty Jo Gary of Brookeland; son Michael Haley Gary of Jasper; as well as numerous nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by two brothers and four sisters.

Gregory Robert Morris,58, known as “Greg” by family and friends, passed away peacefully, with family by his side, on November 19th, 2020 at 2:38 a.m. in Lufkin, Texas. A Celebration of Life service will be held on Tuesday, November 24, 2020 at Evergreen Cemetery in Jasper, Texas. The family will greet friends from 10:30 a.m. until 11:00 a.m.

Greg was born and raised in Jasper, Texas and he graduated from Jasper High School in 1980. He attended Le Tourneau University in Houston, where he earned a Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration. He was Project Manager of Houston Lighting and Power for 18 years, project manager for Target, as well as Super Targets in Miami, Florida.

Greg loved the outdoors and was an avid hunter and fisherman. He enjoyed practicing Shotokan Karate, operating his collection of HAM radios, hanging out with family and friends, and watching football. He was a Christian who enjoyed studying the Bible and loved the Lord.

Greg lived in Sugar Land, Texas for many years until he retired and returned to his beloved hometown of Jasper.

He is survived by his loving mother, Alice Faye Morris (Honey), of Jasper, Texas; younger brother Kyle Morris and sister-in-law DeLanda Morris, of Lufkin, Texas; and two nephews Andrew Morris and Ryan Morris of Lufkin, Texas. He is preceded in death by his father Leo Nelson Morris.

Darrell G. Moss, 77, of Jasper, passed away on Sunday, November 15, 2020 in Jasper. A native of Evadale, Darrell was born on December 28, 1942 to Joe Hardy & Myrtle Arrington Moss. A resident of Jasper since 1997, he lived in Buna and worked as a contract worker in construction for refineries. He is survived by wife of 18 years Benita "Bonnie" Moss; sons Joe Moss & wife Debi of Jasper, Rodney Moss & wife Christie of Evadale, and Randy Oliver & wife Matia of Newton; brother Carl D. Moss & wife Jimmie of Evadale; sisters Jo Ella Fountain of Buna and Portia Fountain and husband A.J. of Buna; as well as numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his parents Joe Hardy Moss and Myrtle Irene Arrington Moss, brothers Raymond Moss and Gerald H. Moss and sisters Juanita Kennedy and Maxine Fielder.

David Dewayne Juby, 67, of Jasper passed away on Tuesday, September 29, 2020 in Houston, Texas. A Celebration of Life Reception will be held on Saturday, October 24, 2020 at 2:00 p.m. at Shultz Funeral Home in Jasper.

David was born on June 4, 1953 in Pratt, KS to Weldon & Inez (Jennings) Juby. He grew up in St. John, KS, and graduated from St. John High School and Kansas State University in 1979. He met Brenda (Hefta) Juby at a Bible study one summer while home from college and they married on July 19, 1980, in St. John. They had two beautiful children, Tia in 1983 and Ian in 1987. David was so very proud of both children and delighted in spending time with them.

He worked for Mobay Chemical Corporation, Cities Service/Occidental Petroleum, Nordam, Edward Jones, and Rockwell Collins. David and Brenda moved to Jasper, TX, from Cedar Rapids, IA, in March 2020, to be closer to family.

He is survived by his wife Brenda Juby of Jasper, TX; daughter Tia Juby of Tulsa, OK; son Ian Juby and wife Jessica of Bay Cliff, TX and three beautiful grandchildren Creedon, Paxton, and Iana Juby. He is also survived by his brother Shawn Juby and his wife Dawn; aunts Dott Hoberecht and her husband Lee, Coleen Jennings, Pat Brackeen and her husband Bob, Sue Atkinson and her husband Bill; uncle Gale Juby and his wife Shirley; brother-in-laws Loren Hefta and his wife Gladys, Stanley Hefta and his wife Laura, Steve Hefta and his wife Diane; sister-in-law Marcia Wolgast and her husband Gregg. Also survived by many cousins and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents Weldon and Inez Juby and in-laws, Pastor Joseph and Viola Hefta, and by many aunts and uncles.

David loved old cars and the restoration of old cars. He loved researching old vehicles and spent time editing the newsletter for the Cedar Rapids Region Antique Auto Club of America. He was also a member of the Model A club and enjoyed their tech sessions and his Friday morning breakfasts with other old car lovers. He learned so much from these men and always came home with stories. He was a member of Grace Community Church in North Liberty, IA, where he was active in small group and always interested in learning God's word.

The family would like to thank everyone for their prayers during David's many illnesses and now in this most difficult time. David was a believer and they are thankful for the fact that they know where he is spending eternity. The promise that we will meet our loved ones again in eternity because we also know Jesus as our Savior is one that they hold in their hearts and they look forward to the celebration that they will have when they join David in heaven.

Richard Norman Nelson

1940 – 2020

Captain Richard Norman Nelson, USN (Ret.) of Keller, TX died on Sunday, September 27, 2020 at age 79. Rich was born in Chicago, IL on November 2, 1940 to Hans Peter and Margaret Nelson. Rich was a Navy veteran, qualified in submarines, who served his country for 35 years, in both active and reserve duty. As an Engineering Duty Officer, he reported to the Navy’s Division of Naval Reactors under Admiral H. G. Rickover. Military decorations include two Meritorious Service Medals, Navy & Marine Corps Commendation Medal, and Recruiting Gold Wreath.

Rich attended Purdue University and received a bachelor’s degree with Highest Distinction and a master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering. He received his Juris Doctor degree from George Washington University. Formerly, Rich was corporate counsel for Elbit Systems of America: EFW, Inc. in Fort Worth, TX.

Rich was a Life Member of the Naval Reserve Association and Navy League, member of the Reserve Officer Association, American Society of Naval Engineers, Naval Institute, Naval Order, the American Bar Association, National Society of the Sons of the American Revolution, and, most proudly, the US Submarine Veterans (USSVI), Fort Worth and Dallas Bases.

Rich was a violinist with the Northeast Orchestra, including a time as concert master. He had a love of music and performed in many community, theatre, and church orchestras throughout his life.

Rich is survived by his devoted wife of 57 years and dance partner, Bonnie Nelson, daughter Kimberly Nelson of Centreville, VA, daughter and son-in-law Amy and Harold Mylius of Liberty Township, OH, grandchildren Austin Figueroa, Rebecca Figueroa, Elaine Mylius, Bennett Mylius, Bradley Mylius, as well as treasured brother, fishing and golf partner, Dr. Allan Nelson (Gayle) of Pentwater, MI.

Burial with full military honors will be held at Arlington National Cemetery at a later date.

The Northeast Orchestra will perform a memorial concert on Friday October 23, 2020 at 7:30 p.m. at Peace Lutheran Church, 941 W. Bedford-Euless Rd., Hurst, TX. All are invited to attend.

Stephen was born on October 5, 1956 to Robert & Loretta Adair in Woodville, Texas. Mitchell Rejman, 62, of Jasper passed away on Wednesday, September 9, 2020 at his home. Born on December 3, 1957 to Michael & Sharon Rejman in Minneapolis, Minnesota, he moved to Jasper in 2013 from Buffalo, Iowa. He worked as a Journeyman Carpenter and was a veteran, who served in the United States Navy. He is survived by his wife of 16 years, Sharee Rejman of Jasper; sons James Rejman of Jasper and Mitchell Rejman of Buffalo, Iowa; daughters Morgan Raper of Blum, Texas and Lacey Rejman of Oregon; sisters Julie Ann Madinabeitia of Virginia Beach, Virginia and Debbie Zornes of Davenport, Iowa; as well as several grandchildren. Jo Ann Aarant,, 72, of Jasper passed away on Thursday, September 10, 2020. A native and life-long resident of Jasper, Marcia was born on August 10, 1937 to J.D. & Billie Mayberry. A secretary by trade, she worked for J.D. Mayberry Survey and worked for Charlie's Restaurant. She was a member of Hillcrest Baptist Church since 2019. She is survived by her sons Chris Byerly of Carthage, Missouri and Steven Byerly of Jasper; a brother-in-law Curtis Byerly & wife Marie of Paden, Oklahoma; as well as a host of friends.

Our beloved father, grandfather and brother, Charles George Thompson passed away on 8/17 at 64 years old. He leaves behind his daughters, Carrie, Christina, Shilo and Brandi, his son Charles, and his grandchildren, Caroline, Vanessa, Stephanie, Sakriya, Shane, Kyle, Bralee, Jayden, Zach, Abigail, Alaura and River. He had 7 siblings preceded in death, by his parents Delbert and Francis Thompson. His passion for fishing, mechanics and hunting carry through to his bloodline, he will be missed greatly by all he has touched. My he rest in peace, for he has gone fishing with Our Lord.

Dalton Eugene (Gene) Oliver passed away on August 20, 2020 at the age of 93. Gene will be laid to rest beside his beloved Helen in a graveside service on; Monday, August 24th at 10 am with Pastor James Matlock officiating.

Gene was born in Joplin, Missouri to Wylie and Viola Oliver. Gene had five daughters, one son, one stepdaughter and one stepson throughout his lifetime. In 1981, he met and married Helen. In 1993, he chose to receive Christ as his savior and was baptized at Dixie Drive Baptist Church in Houston. Helen and Gene shared 39 years together before she preceded him in her heavenly homecoming. They spent many happy years working side by side in the apartment industry in Texas and Louisiana before retiring to Jasper, Tx about 15 yrs ago where they enjoyed fishing, spending time with family and church family, loving on their little puppy dogs, and attending/serving at their final church home together, Tanglewood Baptist Church. Many Sunday afternoons would find them at Janice and John Ray Lewis' home and then back to church for evening services.

James Horne, 83, of Brookeland passed away on Friday, July 31, 2020. James was born on August 11, 1936 in Huntsville, Texas, he was a resident of Pasadena and had been a resident of Brookeland since 1980. A Veteran, he served his country in the United States Navy and worked for Souhwestern Bell as a PBX Installer. He is survived by his wife of 57 years Betty Horne of Brookeland; sons Curtis R. Horne of Brookeland and James Allen Smith of Brookeland; a daughter Rebecca Cunningham of Kountze; grandchildren Amanda, Tisha, Ashlyn, Chris, Alan, Derek, April, Josh, and Brittany and 22 great grandchildren.

After slightly more than 99 years, we emotionally announce that Erma Grace Anderson, on August 2, 2020 has completed her lengthy journey on earth and began her new life in heaven. She left us while sleeping peacefully at her residence in Woodville, Texas.

Born in 1921, Erma lived an amazing and interesting life as a true Renaissance Woman. She was a child of the Great Depression who persevered to gain a degree in watch and clock repair from the Houston Technical School, as well as a Bachelor of Science in Secondary Education, Minor in Music, and a Master’s in Education from Lamar University. She was a long-time business owner of Jasper Jewelry, as well a recognized educator in the Kirbyville School District. She was also an amateur pilot, a great cook, and a lover of art and music. She was a dedicated Christian and friend to countless numbers of people. She will be dearly missed and forever in our hearts.

Erma was preceded in death by her parents Robert and Eula Anderson as well as her three brothers, Tommy, Robert and Elmer Anderson. She leaves behind a sister-in-law Billie Anderson, an array of nieces, nephews, extended family members and dear friends who will miss her tremendously.

Erma specifically wanted to thank the management and staff of the Orchard Assisted Living in Woodville, TX, particularly the Paper Pusher, The Hoot and the Clean Freak who embraced her into their lives and became dedicated members of the Erma Grace Fan Club. Mikie was born on December 30, 1951 to Raymond & Martha Simmons in Jasper. He was a life-long resident of Call and was a member of Call Junction Baptist Church. He worked for Seafarer's International Union as a Seaman. Ruth Burney (Smith) Gill, 91, of Jasper passed away on July 22, 2020. A visitation will be held on Friday July 24th from 5-7 pm at the Shultz Funeral Home in Jasper followed by a Celebration of Life Service to be held at 2:00 pm on Saturday July 25th at First Baptist Church in Jasper.

She was born August 14th, 1928 in Rockdale, Texas as the first child of farmers, Edwin Basil Smith and Mabel Zelma (Burney) Smith. She graduated from Hearne High School in 1945 and although she held many different job titles through the years such as telephone switch board operator, office manager, and business owner, her proudest job titles were that of Wife, Mother and Grandmother.

Ruth loved gardening, sewing, crafting, and experimenting with new recipes. She was always very active in church whether it was teaching Sunday School or leading Vacation Bible School, she served the Lord in any way she could. She had been a member of First Baptist Church Jasper for the past 14 years.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 30 years, Myron Alenzo Gill, sons, David Gill and Jerry Gill, daughter Wanda Morgan and granddaughter Eva Key. She is survived by her daughter Pat and husband Bobby Lockhart of College Station, Texas; son-in-law Joe Morgan of Magnolia Springs, Texas; daughter Patti and husband Jackie Norsworthy of Magnolia Springs; son Dwayne Gill of Kirbyville Texas; daughter Robbie and husband Wade Peek of Magnolia Springs; daughter Gale and husband Mackey Willis of DeRidder, Louisiana; and son Brian and wife Kimberley Gill of Jasper, Texas along with twenty four grandchildren and numerous great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren. Larry "Hoppy" Hopkins, 85 of Jasper passed away on Wednesday, July 22, 2020 at his residence. Private Celebration of Life Services were held, and a public Celebration of Life Service will be held at a later date.

A native of Blakesburg, Iowa, Larry was born on September 8, 1934 to Frances & Clara Hopkins. He moved from Forsythe, Missouri in December of 2017 to Jasper, Texas. Owner of Hoppy's Machine Shop in Houston, he was a tool and die man. A charismatic salesman, he could sell anything to anyone, whether they needed it or not. He enjoyed fishing, making jewelry, shopping and having garage sales. He also served in the United States Army where his job was a meteorologist. He is survived by his wife, whom he married on July 15, 1994 in Caldwell, Texas, Kim Hopkins of Jasper; son Lee Hopkins of Waxahachie; daughter LeAnne Bennie & husband James of Dallas; sister Rose Myers of Jasper; as well as grandchildren Alan & Alaina. He is preceded in death by a son Larry Hopkins and a daughter Linda Owens.

John Stansill, 78, of Sam Rayburn passed away on Friday, July 17, 2020. A Celebration of Life Service will be held on Friday, July 24, 2020 at 2:00 p.m. at Jasper County Cowboy Church with a reception to follow.

A native of Tulsa, Oklahoma, John was born on November 12, 1941 to James & Lucille Stansill. A resident of Corpus Christi, he moved to Sam Rayburn Lake in the fall of 2011. John happily retired in 2013 so he could enjoy life. He loved to fish, play on his John Deere zero turn lawnmower and take his two terriers, Mickey and Addylaide on daily drives. He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Myra Stansill of Sam Rayburn; sons Dennis Ray Stansill of Corpus Christi and Eddie Grant of Corpus Christi; niece Tina Simmons of Houston; grandchildren Jonathan, Kelli & Beth; as well as great grandchildren J.J., Clyde, Ashlyn & Apollo. David Shears, 59, of Brookeland passed away on Sunday, July 19, 2020 in Tyler, Texas. Private Services were held and public services will be held at a later date.

A native of Ashtabula, Ohio, David was born on November 26, 1960 to Donald & Edith Shears. A pipeline foreman by trade, he moved to the Jasper area in 1994. A lover of the outdoors, he loved hunting, fishing, camping and most of all his family. He is survived by his wife Danielle Shears of Brookeland; brother Robert Shears of Cleveland; sisters Alice Styir of Bryan. A native and resident of Jackson, Mississippi, Paula was born to James & Sonya Segrest on October 26, 1962. She moved to Jasper in 2012 and was a member of Hillcrest Baptist Church. Paula loved to volunteer and help at church events. A carpenter by trade, he worked as a contractor for Brown & Root, Haliburton, and various others. He was a member of Hillcrest Baptist Church and loved woodworking and the outdoors. Ovey was born on June 15, 1943 to Ovey Joseph & Edith Lavergne in Beaumont, Texas. He was a resident of Colorado Springs, Colorado until 2005, when he moved to Jasper. He was a pipefitter, who worked for the Local 195 to Local 211. He is survived by his mother Edith Lavergne of Jasper; brothers James Lavergne of Jasper, Ernest Lavergne of Jasper, and Fred Lavergne of Floyd, Virginia; a sister Wanda Brown of Spring; grandchildren Shanna & Amanda; as well as numerous great grandchildren. A native of Silsbee, she was born on December 4, 1946 to Johnnie & Elsie Oliver. A resident of Lumberton, she had lived in Buna for over 35 years. She is survived by her son Robert Whitehead Jr. of Call; a brother Raymond Oliver Sr. of Kirbyville; a sister Beatrice Gore of Buna; and a grandson Joshua Robert Whitehead.

Wilma Lorraine Hock Hilton, 77, of Jasper passed away on Wednesday, June 10, 2020 at CHI St. Luke's Hospital in Lufkin. A Celebration of Life Graveside Service will be held on Tuesday, June 16, 2020 at 10:30 a.m. at Zion Hill Cemetery in Jasper.

A native of Orangefield, Texas, she was born on October 20, 1942 to James Wesley Hock Sr. & Wilrey Wallace Hock. She worked as a home health provider, she owned a quilt shop, a cake decorating business, and worked in retail sales. She also loved hunting, especially duck, goose, squirrel, rabbit, deer and elk. She is survived by her husband Donald Cunningham of Jasper; sons Jerry LeBlanc & wife Judy of Pueblo, Colorado and Duane LeBlanc & wife Donna of Burkeville; a daughter Dianne Chesson of Jasper; brother David Hock of Orange; a sister Nancy Stevens & husband Joe of Bridge City; as well as numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Joyce Beever, 92, of Jasper, passed away on Friday, June 5, 2020. A Celebration of Life Service will be held on Thursday, June 11, 2020 at 10:00 a.m. with interment to follow at Homer Cemetery. She is preceded in death by her grandchildren Gayla Clark & Dennis Ray Knox.

Ronny Lynn Trammell, aged 65, passed away in his home on Friday, May 29, 2020. Ronny spent his last hours surrounded by his loving wife, children, and grandchildren.

Ronny, the son of John and Mary Trammell, was born in Beaumont, Texas, on August 2, 1954. Eventually, he settled his family in Burkeville, Texas, and resided there the past 23 years.

Ronny earned his living in the refinery industry. His profession allowed him to travel widely across the U.S., especially in his role as master scheduler and planner for shutdowns. Ronny enjoyed using his travels on visits to local flea markets to grow his collection of various sports cards, knives, and old western books. Ronny often found rare collectables, while getting the chance to experience the communities of American hometowns across the nation.

Ronny also enjoyed keeping family traditions. When a shutdown was complete and his job was done, Ronny would return home and put together a family weekend full of good music, BBQ, and competitive horseshoe games. He also had a tradition of taking the family camping as much as possible. He grew that tradition even after he was diagnosed with colon cancer 7 years ago—which he fought and beat—by starting an annual "guys" camping trip. Ronny loved spending time with his wife, kids, and family, either through the traditions he started, or through spontaneous and memorable road trips, even if they were just afternoon daytrips.

Being a Marine, Ronny was always on time. His motto was: "If you're 15 minutes early, you're on time, if you're on time, you're late". If you were going somewhere with him, you never kept him waiting. If you did, he made sure you learned your lesson by laying on his horn and waking up the neighbors. He would not let off until you were in the vehicle.

He was also a generous and dependable man. Ronny would give the shirt off his back to help someone in need. He was always the one you could count on. Ronny was always first to lend his friends a hand, and always volunteered to help a friend fix or repair anything that was broken.

Ronny was, and is loved, by his family and many friends. His presence will be deeply missed. Although he did not have much time with them, Ronny especially loved to love on his grandchildren. He can rests easier knowing that “Pawpaw” left a lasting impression on their hearts. Ronny’s light will forever shine bright through the traditions he created, maintained, and so enjoyed during his lifetime.

He is survived by his loving and caring wife of 43 years, MaryEllen Trammell of Burkeville, TX; his son Ronny Trammell and wife Renee of Willis, TX; his daughter Megean Martinez and husband Steven of Jasper, TX; and daughter Sarah Trammell of Burkeville, TX. Brothers Jerry Trammell and wife Claudine of Lake Vernon, LA; Eddie Trammell and wife Debbie of Cold Springs, TX; Danny Trammell of Jasper, TX. Sister Linda Peters and husband Floyd of Burkeville, TX, and 5 grandchildren: Adalynn, Ayden and Avery Martinez, Savannah Berry, and Jonathan Trammell.

Preceding Ronny in death are his parents John and Mary Trammell, sisters Carol and Debra, and brother John Trammell.

Burdett Ford Pulliam of Jasper passed away on Monday, June 1, 2020 at the age of 84. He was born on December 16th, 1935 to Burdett and Elsie Ford Pulliam, in San Augustine County, Texas. He was a 1953 graduate of Newton High School. Burdett attended Stephen F. Austin State College where he received his B.B.A. degree with an accounting major in August of 1956. Upon graduation, he began his career working at Arthur Andersen & Co. and later Fed Mart Corporation while concurrently serving as an Airman First Class in the Air Force Reserve. While working in Houston, Burdett met his future wife, Barbara Sue Jones, at a Wednesday night prayer meeting at Eastwood Baptist Church. They fell in love instantly, but he teased her that he wouldn’t marry her until she weighed at least 100 pounds. After eating many cheeseburgers and fries for almost 2 years, Barbara made it to 98 pounds. The two were then married on November 21, 1959.

In 1961, Burdett was granted his certificate as a Certified Public Accountant, and he and Barbara began growing their family. In 1966, he returned to East Texas with his family and started his private CPA practice in Jasper, Texas. In 1995 Burdett and his son, Ross W. Pulliam, C.P.A., formed Pulliam & Pulliam, P.C. Certified Public Accountants, where he was a shareholder and officer until his retirement.

In addition to running his business, Burdett was passionate about serving the Jasper community through involvement in the Jasper Lions Club, The Jasper Chamber of Commerce, his church, and various local boards. He served as Deacon and Treasurer at Tanglewood Baptist Church for many years. He also served in every officer position within the Lions Club during his tenure since 1966 and was awarded the 1999 Lion of the Year Award in recognition of his dedication and service.

In his free time, Burdett loved fishing, gardening, and was an avid outdoorsman. He enjoyed squirrel hunting and camping on Bear Creek with his father and son. Burdett was a self-taught guitar player and loved pickin’ and grinnin’ on his Gibson Les Paul guitar. His grandkids hold fond memories of him playing his favorite songs such as Old Rattler every evening when they would go over to stay the night.

Burdett’s legacy is carried on by his wife, Barbara Sue Pulliam; daughter, Cindy Pulliam Bozeman and her husband, David; son, Ross W. Pulliam and his wife, Ann; daughter, Valerie Pulliam Hicks and her husband, Jeff; 6 grandchildren: Brittany Bozeman Durbin and her husband, Cory, Danielle Bozeman, Allan & James Pulliam, and Rachel & Caleb Hicks; and 1 great-grandson, Conner Durbin. He is also survived by his sister, Lee Ann Enos, and 2 nephews, Walter Enos & wife Traci and Brandon Enos & wife Amy. He was preceded in death by his parents, Burdett & Elsie Ford Pulliam.

Billy "Bubba" was born in Crockett, Texas on January 12, 1982 to Billy Wayne & Linda Sue Minter. He was a lifelong resident of Jasper and worked in the oilfield. Mary Berniece Clerc, 97, of Jasper passed away on Friday, May 22, 2020 at home with her family. In her younger years, she was a Rosie the Riveter in California. She was a member of the Eastern Star and enjoyed to crochet, knit and paint. She also loved playing Bingo and slot machines. She was a member of Peachtree Baptist Church and loved her family. Elizabeth Ann “Betsy” was born on May 17, 1951in Beaumont. She grew up in Beaumont and was a member of the French High School Buffalo Belles Drill Team, where she served as lieutenant. She graduated from French High School in 1969. At the age of 15 at a basketball game, she met a young man who would become her husband of 49 years. Betsy and Robert were married in Beaumont on May 16, 1971. An avid shopper, she loved a good sale, resale shops and getting Amazon packages. She also loved the color green, magnolia blooms, and lemon desserts. She had four grandchildren, who lovingly called her Bets, whom she was very proud and loved to brag. She loved watching them do what they loved, Haley playing softball, Maggy and Miley dancing on the football field or at recitals, and Blake baking goodies. She was a teacher and director of First Baptist Day School for over 30 years. She taught and influenced many over the years until her retirement in 2017. Her retired years were spent with Robert in Houston. She enjoyed being in Houston during the week and Jasper on the weekends. Alton Mitchell, 80, of Jasper passed away on Monday, March 30, 2020. Private services were held. A native of Bronson, he was born on February 29, 1940 to Alton & Mavis Mitchell. He lived in Kirbyville until 1990, when he moved to Jasper. He worked for Southern Pacific Railroad, where he worked as a dispatcher. He also served his country in the United States Marines, where he served for ten years and served two tours in Vietnam. Nolan was born on December 16, 1953 to Virgil Nolan Hill Sr. and Nancy Louise Pace in Brownwood, TX. Nolan was a hard worker all of his life. He started out at Fort Polk as a member of the U.S. Army. He went on to become a Class A machinist with Otis Engineering, a car salesman and mechanic, Tug boat operator/laborer, Truck driver and a great Carpenter. His career as a carpenter led him to know many lives who know him today. He had many hobbies he loved doing which included: arrowhead hunting, bowling, achieved Red Belt in Taekwondo, hunting and most of all fishing. He was on the Otis Bass Club and won numerous fishing awards and competitions. If you weren't catching fish, he probably was! He loved trot-lining, crappie and bass fishing and most recently became a "salty" for trout, flounder and red fish. Within the last 3 years Nolan gave his life to GOD. Nolan's final days of attendance at New Life Church were filled with expressive worship, like he had never known. He was Baptized in Jesus Name on March 31st, 2019 and filled with the Holy Ghost on May 5th, 2019. Preceded in death by his parents Virgil Hill Sr. and Nancy Pace; as well as a brother Danny Hill. Ruby Athalene Merritt Boykin, 93, of Jasper passed away on Monday, March 30, 2020 in Jasper. Due to the current outbreak of COVID -19 and the safety of others , private services were held at Boykin Cemetery. Ruby was born on January 31, 1927 to Margaret & F.P. Merritt in Plum Ridge, TX. She was preceded in death by her parents Margaret & F.P. Merritt; husband George W. Boykin; a son Joe Boykin; as well as a granddaughter Wendy Zumwalt. She is survived by her sons Frank Boykin and Tommy Boykin & wife Alice of Jasper; daughters Linda Sharry of Atlanta, TX and Sharon Atkins of Jasper, TX; daughter in law Sherry Boykin of Jasper, TX; 14 grandchildren; 16 great grandchildren; as well as numerous great great grandchildren.

Michael Todd, 60, of Jasper passed away on Monday, April 6, 2020 at Christus Jasper Memorial Hospital in Jasper. Private services will be held at a later date.

Michael was born on May 09, 1959 to Corene & James Todd. A native of Houston, TX and former resident of Hemphill,, TX. He spent his life as a Millwright at Temple Inland in Pineland, TX. On December 24, 1994 in San Augustine, TX he married the love of his life Bonita Jo Burns. He is preceded in death by his parents Corene & James Todd. Survivors include his wife of 25 years Bonita Todd of Jasper, TX; four sons Billy Todd & wife Brandy of Mason, TX, Michael Todd Jr. & wife Leslie of Winnie, TX, Jared Todd & wife Carissa of Beaumont, TX and Brendyn Todd & wife Emily of Nacogdoches, TX; one daughter Julie Todd of Nacogdoches, TX; two brothers Frank Todd of Hemphill, TX and Clifton Todd of Buna, TX; as well as numerous grandchildren.

Donna Hanco*ck, 72, of Jasper passed away on January 2, 2020 in Jasper. Donna was born to Margie Ruth Wilson Hanco*ck and Doyle Dean Hanco*ck in the Beech Grove community, a few miles west of Jasper, Texas. She was raised in the old Wilson family house by her parents, great aunts Minnie Wilson, Missouri Wilson and great uncle Leon Wilson. She grew up with her older brother Lee Everette and younger sister Mae Ella enjoying the benefits of a rural upbringing with the security of a sizeable extended family. Donna attended Beech Grove Elementary School and Jasper High School. She enjoyed reading, crocheting, knitting, and her soap operas "The Bold and the Beautiful" and "The Young & the Restless". Donna worked for Southwestern Bell Telephone in Beaumont and Silsbee for 25 years. After retirement, she relocated back to Jasper and enjoyed many years with her son Wynn, sister Mae Ella, her relatives and many childhood friends. She especially became close with her grandchildren Hannah, Noah and Josh. Donna was known for her generosity, her selflessness and the genuine nature she always exuded. Her wit, her laugh and her passion for life were always present. Donna was especially blessed to have a lifelong sibling bond with Mae and Lee. Her son Wynn, wife Ashley and granddaughter Hannah provided great comfort to her through her last years.

She is survived by her son Wynn Martindale & wife Ashley of Jasper; brother Lee Everette & wife Susan of Houston; sister Mae Swearingen & husband Marvin of Jasper and three grandchildren Hannah, Noah & Josh. She was preceded in death by her sons Will Martindale and infant son Warren Clint Martindale. Ronnie Sandrock, 72, of Brookeland passed away on Thursday, December 19, 2019 in Jasper. A Celebration of Life Service will be held on Sunday, December 22, 2019 at 2:00 p.m. at Shultz Funeral Home in Jasper with a private interment in Kirbyville Cemetery. The family will greet friends on Sunday afternoon from 1:00 p.m. until the time of the service.

Ronnie was born on May 1, 1947 in Germany and grew up and attended school there, he moved to the United States as a teenager and was a resident of Brookeland for over 30 years. He worked and retired as a Conductor for Southern Pacific Railroad. He loved hunting, fishing, Harley Davidson motorcycles, fast boats and classic rock and roll. He is survived by his wife of twenty-nine years Sherrie Sandrock of Brookeland; sons Allen (Tra) Y'Barbo & wife Sheila of Jasper, Shon Y'Barbo & wife Paige of Pensacola, Florida; and grandchildren Keleigh Dunman & husband Dalton of Jasper and Brayton Y'Barbo of Jasper.

Bill was born on July10, 1967 to William Richard Lawrence Sr. and Regina Marie Santini Lawrence . He spent his life as a Truck Driver , he had a passion for Peterbilt trucks. On February 15, 1992 he married the love of his life Dallas Eldon Whaley Calhoun. A member of Angelina River Volunteer Fire Department for over 20 years, his time in the department he served as a Fire Fighter, Fire Chief and Assistant Chief. Bill loved serving his community, playing his guitar, cooking, and spending time with his family. John was born on December 31, 1952 in Port Arthur, TX to Morris John Jorgensen Jr. and Sybil Marie Ralph. He spent his life as a Nurse since 1976. Since 2016 he served as a Texas State Guard. A Master Mason at the Masonic Lodge # 151 where he obtained rank as Scottish Duke and York, Royal Order of Scotland, International Board of DeMolay as well as Sons of the Republic. On July 04, 2004 he married Patricia Milam in Kansas City, KS. Survivors include his wife Patricia "Pat" Jorgensen of Jasper, TX; daughters Michelle Glenn of Jasper, TX and Rachel Asbury of Kansas; grandchildren Destynee Glenn, Andras Jonathan Glenn and Chloe Asbury; as well as great grandchildren Aurora Skie and Andrarius Sage.

A lifelong native of Jasper, Texas. Coop was born on November 15, 1982 to John Cooper and Jencie Oliver. Coop spent his life as a Lead Field Tech Mechanic at Estis Compression. On December 31, 1999 Coop married the love of his life his "Blondy" Deaun Jennett Conn. Coop had a love and passion for the outdoors, hunting, fishing, boating, camping, grilling, and just spending time with the people he loved, his family and friends.
