Knight, Retired Officer of Cowper Is Dead Arthur L. Knight, 69, a director and retired vice president of the John W. Cowper died Tuesday (Jan. 16, 1968, in Buffalo General Hospital. He lived at 306 Deerhurst Park Town of Tonawanda.

Mr. Knight was born and educated in Buffalo. He was a member of the Columbus Boy's Choir and became a member of St. Paul's Episcopal Church in 1919. He served as a member and director of the church's building and property committee and was elected to the Cathedral Vestry in 1944.

Joined Cowper Co. in '19 In 1958 he was elected a warden of the church and became senior warden in 1963. Mr. Knight was chiefly responsible for improvements and renovation of all cathedral property, including the recent remodeling of the crypt, establishment of the columbarium, and painting of the interior of the cathedral. He also was active in planning the celebration of St.

Paul's sesqui-centennial anniversary. Mr. Knight joined the Cowper Co. in 1919. He was elected a director in 1946 and held that position at the time of his death.

He retired in 1959. Mr. Knight served for many years as a director of the Buffalo area Camp Fire Girls and was a member of the Ellicott Club, the founding body of the Buffalo Athletic Club. Funeral on Saturday He was a member of the Lions Club and helped found the Buffalo Eye Bank. He was also a member of the Thursday Luncheon Club and a past member of the Elma Gun Field Club.

He is survived by his wife, the former Helen L. Barone; a son, Arthur L. of Red Wing, two daughters, Mrs. Regis J. Stevenson and Mrs.

Vincent D. LaRussa, both of Buffalo, and six grandchildren. Funeral services will be held at 10 Saturday morning in St. Paul's Episcopal Cathedral. Burial will be in Elmlawn, Town of Tonawanda.

Hicks Dies At 97; Ex Buffalo Dentist Dr. James R. Hicks, 97, practiced dentistry in Buffalo until he was 92, died today (Jan. 17, 1968) in his home at 13 Bloomingdale Failing eyesight forced Dr. Hicks' retirement in 1962.

In 1957, at the age of 87, he told The News "my nerves are just as good today as the day I started practice." Dr. Hicks had been in failing health for a'. 1 a par' A native of Harriston, Dr. Hicks taught and was principal of the high school there. He graduated in a course for principals from the University of Toronto.

However, he wanted to become either a dentist or physician, and with his brother, Dr. Thomas A. Hicks, came to the University of Buffalo Dental School. They graduated in 1900 and opened an office at Huron and Franklin Sts. The brothers practiced together for 51 years, Dr.

Thomas Hicks retiring in 1951. Dr. James Hicks continued to practice in their office at 37 Allen St. until 1960 when he moved his equipment to his home because "the winters are too tough. Getting to the bus is a little too much me now." After their graduation, both brothers also taught at the university.

Thomas taught physiology and histology, and James demonstrated prosthetic dentistry. They until 1918. Memberships included Ancient Masons, the Moose Club and Landmarks Lodge of the New York State Dental Society. Surviving are Dr. Hicks' wife, the former M.

Mrs. Joseph F. Kiebzak Mrs. Constance M. Kiebzak, 66, a tavern operator in the Buffalo area for 40 years, died Monday (Jan.

15, 1968) after being stricken at the Wendel Loecher Inc. funeral home in Lancaster. She was pronounced dead on arrival at Lafayette General Hospital. Mrs. Kiebzak was the owner and operator of the Kiebzak Restaurant at 38 Crocker Sloan, where she lived.

She had run the restaurant with her husband, Joseph F. Kiebzak, for about 18 years until his death in 1963. Previously the Kiebzaks had operated a tavern with the same name for about 18 years at Briggs and Niagara Sts. in Buf. falo's Black Rock section.

Mrs. Kiebzak, the former Constance M. Gabrykiewicz, was born in Buffalo. She was a member of the Erie County Restaurant Dealers and attended St. Andrew's Church in Sloan.

Surviving are two sons, Leonard W. and Joseph of the Crocker St. address; a sister, Mrs. Mary Olejniczak of Buffalo, and four grandchildren. Funeral services will be Saturday morning.

Mr. MacPhail has been president and his partner vice president since then. Born in Russell, Mr. MacPhail moved here 31 years ago. He was associated with the Erie Electric Co.

24 years before acquiring his own business. He was a life member of the Buffalo Canoe Club; the Engineering Society Buffalo, and a former member of the Cherry Hill Country Club and Buffalo Athletic Club.
